I may change it later. At this point of writing – no one’s reading this anyway. Thats not important. What is important is that we’re back on track with some routine and getting things done again. In the course of a week, I already feel like Im sleeping better. Couple of things are happening – no caffeine after 12P, of any kind, and a consistent calorie deficit, with at least an hour of walking per day (although the target has been to shoot for 1.5h)

Im toying with the idea of doing a 1200 cal (or as close as is reasonable) eating plan for a couple of weeks just to see how Id feel. Ive been doing the math and one of the concerns that Ive always had is being hungry. While a certain amount of that is ok, the volume of food to feel full/satisfied is still a thing. Usually when I do this, I jsut throw more veggies at it. there’s some math involved based on my current habits. For instance, lunch and dinner meals generally range around the 700-750g with around 700 calories. Breakfast is around 300cal, and thats around 300-350g weight. Im thinking breakfast would be somewhere in the 200cal, with a 500cal lunch and dinner. That would put me at the 1200 cal mark. But it would leave no room for any kind of intermittent snacking, if it were needed. Additionally, id have to see where I shake out with my blood sugar. Thats always an issue that I have to keep in mind with these sorts of things. The other issue is that I just got a second job, which Ill be required to be on my feet more. That may throw a wrench in that plan. More as that develops.

If you’re familiar with the TLC TV show My 600 lb life, then you know about Dr Now. I just started reading through his book, because I was really curious. The good news thus far is that most of it is stuff I already know (which is never a bad thing, because it just emphasizes whats correct and working). But it did make me think about the approach. I’ve been back and forth with trying to define an easy way to define what it is that Ive been doing and his book does lay this out pretty well.

I’ve said from the beginning that your head had to be in the right place for this to be successful. His book lays it out in the following way. I think this sums up the mental aspect pretty clearly.

Attitude, desire, willingness, knowledge.

Once you have these things in check, then you’re ready to go. It doesnt necessarily mean that we’ve got all the answers to every aspect. But we’re always working toward being better than we were yesterday, always learning something new, or driving home what we already know to be working. I can say from my own experience, even just recently, if you’re head isnt in the game, then you’re doing yourself a disservice and lying to yourself about where you really are. We owe it to ourselves to be honest about where we are, especially if we want to change who and what we are.

Also, this is also not really a new idea, but its important to reiterate. The people that you surround yourself with will dictate the attitude you keep. I see so many instances on My 600 lb Life of people who enable bad choices of others. While you can overcome the obstacles of changing your life on your own, its a hell of a lot easier with the right support system. You dont have to do this on your own. But you may be in a situation where the only person on your side is you. Been there. At the end of the day, the choices are yours. I know for myself, its a lot easier when I can bounce ideas off of the right people.

Meal prep is done. By the way, taco seasoning mixed in with salsa – holy shit. Thats some flavor. Also, ground chicken is a game changer, folks. Get on board. Another hack – popcorn seasoning. Be careful of the salt, but Ive been using the nacho cheese popcorn seasoning lately for my breakfast and its doing some wonders as a replacement for real cheese.

I couldnt come up with a clever title, so this is where i landed.
